We simply don’t sit in an arm chair and read the manual but enter into the very movements of the people as they farmed, gathered, courted and prayed. And in entering into their activities in this way, we begin to gain a different understanding.
Folk Dances and Games from Many Lands presents dances which are part of the life and deep-rooted traditions of the peoples of Sweden, England, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Norway, Holland, Hungary, Lithuania, Russia, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The material is arranged with the simpler forms at the beginning of the book and the more difficult movements towards the end. Many dances can be performed in a classroom or on stage. Suggestions for costumes are given in the back of the book.
Although we have tried to present the dances in an authentic manner, we also realize that class size, age and discipline may require changes to the dance or game. These dances are presented to fit your classroom or studio needs, and are adaptable to those needs. Please feel free to make changes which suit your students.
