Carousel is proud to present World In Tune (tm)--a new curriculum. It's global in scope, integrative in outlook and the approach speaks directly to the child's education in this new millennium.

The first of the series--Music of the Ancient World--is now available. Starting back around 3000 B.C. with the cultures of Sumer, Egypt, China, India and Greece, it presents the achievements and creations of man: the great discoveries, literature, myths, art and architecture, way of living and music. In fact music becomes the core of the study--the integrator. Ancient peoples realized that music had a dual aspect--the science of sounding mathematics and the art which touches the heart. Having music as a guide, as a bridge, children can travel from the intellectual world of mathematics to the more playful world of song, dance and theater.

  World In Tune comes complete with text, time-line charts and musical instruments. Children are invited to play the instruments which are similar to those played 4000 to 5000 years ago. In doing so, they experience the importance of the coordination of the body, which rhythm demands, come in contact with the emotional aspects of sound and the intellectual reason for its being. Here within the scope of the child's experience this "hands on" approach begins to awaken an interest in the child not only in music but in literature, art, science and the history of his ancestors.

 Truly our children have a treasure waiting for them, an inheritance which is rightfully theirs. World In Tune maps out where treasures are to be found. It points the direction but leaves the mystery for the child to discover in his own time and in his own way. It's time not just to dust off the shelves of our museums but to point out that the spirit and creativeness which produced these works of art live within our children today--only waiting to be tapped.
